HarbourView Inn

The room, service, and location were perfect for a visit to historic Charleston, SC. This is a relatively small boutique hotel with a great complimentary breakfast, afternoon wine, and cookies and milk in the evening. It is within easy walking distance of many great restaurants and museums. We would not go back to Charleston without staying at the HarbourView Inn.

Wonderful boutique hotel with excellent guest rooms and nice guest activities. Nightly wine and cheese in late afternoon as well as cookies at 9pm. On Mondays and Wednesdays, they have a guide do a basic 30-45 minute "tour" of nearby area with history and background of Charleston. Warm and friendly staff. Breakfast each day in commons area or in your room. Easy walk to Charleston City Market, French Quarter, many restaurants, and shopping along King Street.

Fabulous stay in Charleston at the HarbourView Inn! Lovely older inn with beautiful views. The staff was very friendly, and the made to order breakfast at a choice of locations in the inn, the wine/cheese hour and the cookies and milk at bedtime just added to our stay. We were able to walk easily to downtown restaurants and shopping, historic homes, and many tourists attractions. A GREAT location! I highly recommend you stay here!

We had been to the Harborview many years ago and loved every minute so we really were looking forward to another lovely stay there; unfortunately our very first interaction with whoever was at the front desk when we arrived late last Sunday afternoon left a lot to be desired. She barely cracked a smile, or offered a ‘welcome to the harborview’ — she merely asked for an ID, pointed to the credit card machine and handed us the room keys to 309. Very off-putting to say the least. Room 309 was definitely not up to snuff. The water pressure in the shower was poor, but worse of all was the mattress. It needs to be replaced straightaway. It was so uncomfortable that neither of us slept very well — after a long drive from Virginia. The next morning, we went back to the front desk to ask if the mattress could be replaced. Thank goodness the lady at the front desk — Jodi — was more helpful than her colleague the day before. She moved us to room 403 with no problem. 403 had a much nicer view of the harbor, the water pressure was much better and, best of all, the mattress was much more comfortable than the previous nite’s. After that rocky start, the rest of the week was pleasant and the staff that we encountered were all very personable and went out of their way to help if they could. Loved everything about this hotel, starting with its great location in the French Quarter, its small size which makes it feel like a private home, the great view we had from our balcony room, the wine happy hours, and the very friendly staff, special mention to the front desk and valet!
